Campus2Career℠ Transition Services
Campus2Career - Services for College and University Graduates in Early Job Coaching Searches

Services

Campus2Career® Transition Services are designed with one objective in mind: preparing our clients to be successful in their job search.

The program described below is a proven way to achieve that goal. The amount of one-on-one partner/client time typically needed to complete the program is 35-70 hours. The overall time period of the program will depend upon a number of factors, according to the specific situation, but we will be with you the entire way. In addition, there is off-site "homework" and regular communication. Much of the work can be done virtually.

The Campus2Career Methodology

Our approach to job search is outcome driven and based on years of empirical results. The phases form integral elements in completing the journey to find that right job.

Introductory Meeting

This is a complimentary meeting among our principals, the individual (client) and his or her sponsors (generally parents) to discuss the program expectations and desired outcomes. We believe firmly that there must be good chemistry between the senior partner and client for the program to be successful.

Phase I: Personal Survey (Skills, Traits, Style, Motivators) / Individual Strategy Design

A thorough assessment of our client's strengths, needs, preferences and values helps to form a foundation in identifying his/her goals and how to achieve them. The best method for accomplishing this is to use a series of assessment instruments that are interpreted by our expert in this field. This phase is an essential part of the job search when career goals and direction are uncertain.

We then discuss the results of the evaluations with the individual and sponsors. Afterwards, a personalized marketing strategy with clear qualitative and quantitative expectations is formulated that focuses on critical concepts like networking and targeting companies to accomplish the job search.

Phase II: Skills and Competencies Development, Market Research and Road Map Strategy Development

Building on the information gained from Phase I, we work with the client to develop competencies in résumé writing, presentation skills, references, email etiquette, and marketing/business letter writing. This is particularly recommended for those who have never conducted a serious job search.

Market and industry research is the second step of the strategy development phase. Based on the information gathered during the first phase, and through discussions with the individual, we will have a good sense of the type of work that is preferred and consistent with the individual's skill set.

At this point, we target specific organizations. We identify key personnel, important business issues facing the industry and the organizations, and the strategy to get interviews. In essence, a road map is created.

Initial industry and organization research will be conducted by our Director of Research, a 20-year veteran in the executive search and job placement field.

Phase III: Interview Preparation and Strategies

It's critical for our client to have strong, confident interviewing and communication skills. It's essential that he/she present him/herself effectively and is able to maximize the impact made on others. Learning how to interview and answer tough questions will help build self-confidence and demonstrate purposefulness when interacting with professionals in unfamiliar settings. The better one understands and is comfortable interviewing, the better the results.

We will conduct mock interviews and videotape the results to provide complete performance feedback.

Phase IV: Developing the Network

Talking to personal and business contacts is the most effective method of conducting a job search. Our training enables our client to identify prospects and targets from many sources. We teach the concepts of picking targets and locating the hidden jobs that account for the placement of over half the job opportunities.

Phase V: Negotiating the Offer

When a desired job offer is extended, it is time to negotiate. The goal of negotiating is to come to an agreement about the total package. We work with our client to develop a negotiating strategy that includes everything from compensation to job responsibilities.

Phase VI: Continued Career Consulting

Once a starting date has been agreed with your new employer, we discuss the most effective "on-boarding" strategy with you. It's vital that our clients get off to a strong start; we will help you navigate the uncertain waters often found in the early days on a new job. And after that, we remain available for discussions as appropriate.
